Well, here is my story for today. I was at work and my live-in girl friend called and said I needed to get home now because sokmeones tractor had just rolled off a hill and crashed into the 16x20 foot building I had built toi hold my two Harleys, a 1996 1200 custom sportster and a 2003 Heritage Classic Softail. I drove home expecting the worst-a demolished building and twomangled bikes. It wasn't as bad as I thought. The tractor was still stuck in the building when I arrived. The driver of the tractor kept telling me how sorry he was and the owner of the farm was saying that if he had to he would sell his farm to pay for the damages.I slowly looked inside at my bikes and thankfullyonly the Heritage had damage. The front fender and moldingwas bent and needed to be replaced. The owner of the tractor had liability insuranceand an adjuster came out to my house within two hours. About 10 feet around the corner of my building will need to be replaced and the whole thing will need to be placed back on its foundation. I sure was lucky that everything worked out okay in the end. They had to get one of those heavy duty wreckers to move the tractor out of my shed. Has any one had such and experience?
Depending on the cost to fix the Heritage, I don't know if I would claim it on insurance. It would probably wind up being cheaper to fix it yourself rather than having your insurance go up. Even though it wasn't your fault, sometimes your insurance will go up because they say things are more likely to happen to you and you're a liability or some crap like that. I would just look into it first. If it's not going to cause your rates to go up, by all means have them fix it. Glad to hear everything turned out good in the end and no one was hurt in the incident. But of all places the tractor could have rolled, it had to go right where the bikes were......
Good thing no-ones hurt. Sounds like the guy on the tractors ok, your gf 's alright, everything is good. Aside from the property damage, I would say your not that unlucky. Cheer up! Your covered on the bikes either way. Sucks that this happened to you tho'.
Thankfully nothing even CLOSE to that has happened to me. Glad to hear the damage wasn't too significant, and no one was hurt. I don't see how the other driver making a claim onhis insurance would in any way affectyour insurance rates. (?) Regardless, sounds like it could have been a lot worse all around, for everyone involved.
