No, it was pretty straight forward. I had had the cable and brake line replaced when I switched to the mini-apes I had before the 13"ers. So, I only had to run the wiring inside the bars. That said, it's not a huge task to replace the cables and brake line. Take your time, and get the HD shop manual if you don't already have it. It'll tell you how to install and adjust the cables.
My opinion is if you are going to put on apes you should goes as large as you can with out losingcomfort. I am 5'9 and have 16 in apes and they are great for me.
nice bike...i had decided to go with 14's because i was kinda worried about the comfort thing of going with 16's. i had heard too many stories of people talking about their arms going numb on long rides. if i knew i could go with 16's and not have any problems i would, hell i would even go with 20's if i knew it wouldn't be uncomfortable on long rides..lol. but when i ride it's never just a short trip and i'd hate to spend the cash on something that wouldn't be any benefit whatsoever. i guess i'm gonna have to try to find some people around here with some ape hangers and see what would be comfortable, only thing is there ain't a lot of people around here with em.
!6"'s on my Fatboy. I am over 6 ft as well and I have put on 300 miles in a day with no problems. If you are thinking about 16's you better do it or you will be doin the same thing next year. Also check out Jameson's. His is sweet looking as well.
thanks for the info vabubba, i'll probably go with 16's then if they seem to cause no problems. i like the look of those on your bike, don't look like they'd be too bad at all and you're probably right, if i don't go ahead and go with at least 16's i'd be doin the same thing over again. i don't like to ride sittin straight up though, i like to lay back in the seat pretty far, to me it is more comfortable, i should have no problems with that with the 16's right?
