you're not getting what i'm saying. you yourself can put a DOT sticker on a helmet and the cops do not have anything in any book that enables them to tell the difference. someone once said hey can tell because it was a sticker, which is also untrue. i have a DOT helmet from Helmet city international(HCI)and the DOT was a sticker and it peeled off.
Yup, you can buy DOT stickers on the net, and the cops probably won't know the difference. But if you don't have one, they may issue a ticket. If your helmet is in fact DOT certified, then I suppose you could go to court with proof, and fight the citation, if that's the kind of thing you enjoy.
there are lots of things i enjoy, but that's not one of them. but they don't pull people over for helmets around here. but we don't have a real helmet law in delaware. you don't have to wear it but it has to be on the bike. i wear one no matter what, but i wear one from HeadTrip, carbon fiber kevlar mix. but that's the fact, they don't know the difference, so why bother getting one with all these certifications. i understand wanting to be safe and i'm not saying you shouldn't wear a brain bucket, but to each his own. but i'd buy an hjc or an hci over a shoei any day. i have 4 hci's
Here in Canada the feds will pull you over for a helmet. I've been pulled over and fined for a helmet. They are particularly strict on the beanie style lids.

but if you have a dot half, what do they do then. and how do they tell the difference between a dot and non dot, and what do they say if it has a fake sticker on it. do they give a reason as to why they think it's not real. you should tell them to show you in THE BOOK, that differentiates a dot from a non dot. bet they will give you a bs answer cause there is no actual book

I suppose they could look it up on line (if they had some reason not to like you), or they may have a DOT data base of helmets which are compliant.
To get a Snell needs the full face for most but my HJC AC3 has it. Full face is a Little more trouble but no hotter since you can always throw the shield up and a full face is a lot safer. My HJC 3/4 is heaver then my Shoie full face. I have a Daytona but it's a death sentence if you go down

snell rating looks for more chin protection. the arai is snell rated and does so in the 3/4 with extended cheeks. there is very little helmet missing in the middle.

i looked it up and the only explanation hat was given was the difference in weight. but i have an HCI carbon fiber that is a god 1 1/2 pounds lighter than my others.
