2000 softail vibes???
Hi Guys, i got a 2000 Heritage softail 88b motor, I notice that it i has vibration when u rev it up. It use to have no vibes, so i checked the engine mounts notice the top one was loose, tightend that, little less vibes, better, but it still has some when i rev it up i notice the front wheel hopps alittle at a certain rpm. what should i check next? It runs good, makes no noises. i was thinking about looking at the compesator????? what do you guys think? thanks

Sounds like the balancer gear on the crank may have slipped. it is only a press fit and can slip on the crank causing the balance shafts to vibrate out of time. This is not possible to check without disassembly so you will have to check everything else first. Mike

Hi, Thanks for the reply, Would checking the balancer entail taking off the primary and the clutch, the compensator, the flywheel, then the balancer? I have a book didn't look at it to much, does the balancer have some dots to keep it in line when installing. o forgot bike has 41000 miles. thanks for the help
