Default vibration

i have a severe vibration at 2000 rpm. you feel it in the foot pegs and handle bars.it will do it sitting in neutral also at 2000 rpm. it's an o5 superglide and i really didn't notice it that much last year. i know these things shake but this seems to be more severe to me. is it normal? i checked the motor mounts and they look good.

If your motor mounts are all tight, check your primary chain adjustment. Also check your VOES switch, plugs, wires, etc. Is it ONLY at 2000 rpm, not 2100 or 1900? If it's doing it sitting still, set the rpm to 2000 and feel around the bike for something that might be loose.

The VOES acts like the advance mechanism in a car. It senses engine vacuum and advances or retards the ignition to allow the best performance. It's either on or off, depending on the amount of vacuum in the intake manifold. It should be connected to the intake manifold by a hose. You can read up on it in your factory service manual.... hope ya got one! It's a necessary "tool" for every Harley owner.

You inspect it like you inspect everything else.... by looking at it. [sm=smiley17.gif] See if there are any cracks, and check the torque on the hardware.

Sometimes when something is loose, it will vibrate more only at certain frequencies (or engine speeds).
