Been riding a lot more at night lately so I needed to figure something out with headlight on my Softail Custom. I had played around with a few different bulbs based on some recommendations from everyone here. All of which were better than stock but nothing crazy so I decided to try the Fuel Moto LED bulb.
This bulb is crazy bright, Not even close to anything that I`d tried so far! It was alittle tricky to install and squeeze into the tiny stock housing, of course it didn't help that it came with parts to fit other models also and no instructions at all. Kind of like setting a mouse trap in my headlight. But well worth the battle and I highly recommend it! Hopefully it lasts!
Had a few days to put a few hundred miles on the bike. The light is very white and has really good coverage. I haven't found another bulb or headlight that is brighter, seems like a great upgrade for anyone with a single headlight on their bike.
It is amazing to me how just a bulb can make such a difference. Since replacing the head light bulb I have added passing lights and for an old guy like me with bad eyes night riding is enjoyable again.
I have a Slim with the passing lamps. I like the look of the stock lights vs the Daymakers. I went with just led bulbs. I went with the DK leds. It is a big improvement. If you don't want to spend the ridiculous money they want for the Daymakers or want to keep the stock look you cant go wrong with a quality drop in.
Yes, but I will warn you after my recent frustration... The newer bikes look at every circuit for a certain load or they throw a code. Mine is a 2014 and I eventually had to run a wire straight to the battery to get my new LED passing lamps to work properly. I spoke to the folks at Custom Dynamics and was told my bulbs were not BCM compatible (I did not buy CD lights, but was asking them about the possibility of a load balancer or equalizer to make them work... No dice).
So, before you buy 4.5" lights, make sure they will work with your year bike!
