All comes apart in 5ish minutes. If I keep the tp. Attached to the mount, it can be awkward to pop off. But it connected to the mount with these hand twist parts which separates the tp quickly. Above pics still apply. So remove 2 bags, remove the stabilizing rods underneath them (bicycle seat clamp quick release bolts, disconnect the power, flip the tp forward, remove.

Outstanding work, fellow traveler.

I'm glad to have stumbled upon this thread, as I considering doing something similar.

Admire the work. Not what Id do to a softie, Id just rent a bagger for a trip myself if that was my situation. Looks like a clean setup and not cobbled together.

looks weird and ugly .
does what you need it to do .
you did it yourself without spending buckets of cash .
you get to keep your cool bike AND do long trips .

sounds like you came out ahead !

AND the old lady is happy with it . that's a big win right there !

At ~$160 a day??? No thanks! I plan to get a TP for my softie soon for a similar approach to this guys work - except my hard bags stay on all the time, only the trunk will be taken off when not in use.

I'm all for DIY and being creative! I would LOVE to know where you got the little riders backrest. I bought one recently from Grasshopper but haven't done anything but sit on the bike and I'm not sure it's going to be the right one for me. Yours looks like a much better fit. Thanks in advance!

Obviously beauty is in the eye of the beholder. I think you did a fantastic job to solve a problem that occasionally pops up. I ride a Rocker and carrying gear for a long weekend is a PIA. I strap my sleeping back and tent on my handlebars and everything else has to go in a backpack. I have an idea to make a three piece system from structural aluminum that a person could attach/detach themselves with no damage to the paint.

A friend has the Harley luggage rack that came for the Rocker and its kinda heavy and she dings her paint every time she puts it on.
