Still in the early stages.this is only for function to hit the long trips pop everything off and still have my fun bike for the local riding. Here are the pre paint shots. Still waiting for hardware and a few other pieces. Still unsure of I will have quick release hard bags, but if a friend comes through I might have that mod on there. Do far the main mount is holding up!
TBH and this is from experience, the BO is a miserable long distance bike. I wish it was better and thought it could be OK but it really just is not. Hell maybe if i was in my 20s i could deal with it. Its the stiff ride, low profile tires, the bike is cramped and im not a tall guy at 5'9". The detachable windshield is a must if you dont want to be even more beat up all day. I have set a future 2 hour limit on this thing for trips. Have come to accept my BO is really just an around town bike. Have done 1000 + mile round trips over the course of 4-5 days and that thing will wear you out!
I have a quarter fairing which isn't much. First year I have over 10k miles with an iron butt to Sturgis and a 1000 mile round trip to and from rolling thunder. This wasn't so much for comfort as it was just to do and have an easier packing situation. Show up, unload in one shot, ready for the fun riding. The Carlini bars lift me up to a really comfortable position wind shield or not.
Lol! Was just told the hard bags are on their way. Next bracket will be lowered a couple inches and incorporate 2014 ultra glide hard bags. Can't argue with free (or on this case cost of shipping).
so far the weight doesn't seem so bad. Have to see when its loaded down though to be sure. The quick release system seems to be able to distribute it well so far though. Will have to see when I get everything bolted together though. Definitely not super aerodynmic as is though which means lowering it at least a couple inches. I think some bags may off-set the fact that the tourpak is so wide in relation to the bike. I mean hell, a bagger has a much skinnier rear wheel than my breakout and it supports all that just fine. Albeit on a little longer frame and a different suspension.
