Thought I would give an update on my 2016 Heritage.

Updated it with a FuelPak 3 and a Big Sucker...nice improvement with the V&H Slip-ons.

I just got back from a 1400 mile trip from southwest Ohio to eastern Virginia via Skyline Drive. Toured along the James River, Williamsburg, Fredericksburg, Monticello, and went back via the Shenandoah Mountains.

This was a two-up tour with luggage for a week and had temperatures from the high 40s (mountains) to the mid-90s.

With the stock V&H map, I averaged about 43 MPH. I did get some decel pop on the way down the mountains. I am doing an autotune right now.

Overall, after all of the add-ons, etc., the 2016 was flawless. I took a similar trip with my 2006 Heritage a few years back and used to struggle up the mountains with just me and luggage and but with the 103CI it seemed to fly fully loaded. The cruise was a huge improvement as was the 6th speed. Very happy with the performance increase and the performance of the 2016 over the entire trip.

I did add a Tech-Mount and used an old iPhone as a GPS (used my current phone as a hotspot...made for a super cheap GPS). I was able to pre download the maps and it was very handy on the backroads (most of the trip), even when there was no cell service. With the bluetooth helmet headsets, it was also a huge improvement talking to the passenger or listening to music. Speaking of the passenger, even with an Airhawk, eight hours a day was a bit much for her (I am just getting warmed up!).

Jeeze I can't wait until Feb-mar. Nice pics. You stayed at the Roseloe in Hot Springs? I live north on Rt 220 in Highland Co. Some of the best riding scenery around.

Congrats, I bought a '16 teal/white last Christmas eve. Didn't get to drive it till May. Northeast Ohio, cold, wet, then road repairs everywhere. Sold Ultra winter '14 and bought '11 Heritage in '15. Liked the handling but the brakes and lack of power were obviously missing. New Heritage is so much improved...... except the bags and red conchos. The front of the bags don't have the plastic liners so I bought Mustang spots (studs) and silver dollar conchos....much better now. Do your wife a favor, new Mustang seat is finally out in 2 piece version. Front#76233, rear#76180. Previous models won't work, ask me how I know.

Very nice pick man. I would have to adjust to the bags as well because I did love the old style bags but damn that's a good looking bike.

Congrats on your new Heritage. You have the same stage I that I have.

We used to live in Colorado, and the 103 six speed would carry us over some of the steepest pass's at 65 in sixth gear with no problems.

We bought ours new in 2013 and so far no problems to date.

That is a great eye! Yes, that is where we stayed the first night and ate at the little restaurant just north of there. It is great out there and beautiful country! Previous trips around there were close to Warm Springs. Route 39 and 220 are great areas!

I have the SMH10: http://www.sena.com/product/smh10/

For the open face helmets, I have the fixed boom mics...do get some wind noise but can hear about 95% of the conversation at highway speeds and non-stock exhaust. For spare helmets and ones with the face shields, I have the detachable mics. I just use the no-mic set up for music for riding to work.

It took me a while to warm up to the new bags and red glass, etc...so I know what you mean!

I had issues with my 2006 and tried a Mustang but being tall, it put me up forward. I have a Utopia backrest which is a huge help.

Does the new seat move you up any or back further? Thanks!
