I have an 03 Night Train and just installed Metzler 888 tires and am experiencing the exact same thing you describe. I only feel it at 20 mph when decelerating and it's like I am going over rumble strips for a couple of seconds and then goes away. Did you ever determine what is causing this?
Thanks!
Not sure if either of you have found a solution but,
i just had had the same problem on my 02 fxsti after doing a ton of work over the winter including tires. what I found was the front axle spacer wasn't all the way seated against the fork, on the side with the slider clamp. I could actually see a good sized gap but for whatever reason I couldn't lfeel any play shaking the wheel with the bike jacked up. Loosening up the nuts there was a pop, retorqued everyting and now it no longer has the vibration!!!!!
Small vibrations tend to become big, uncontrollable vibrations without warning.
I hope you have good insurance for the people's lives you change forever due to your own negligence.
Wowsers.
Anywhoo...
I would consider changing out yor wheel bearings to TImkens, the HD bearings are cheap chinese ca ca. Unless you have ABS, then youd have to research alternatives, as I cant speak to that from experience.
I didn't read all of these post so I don't know if this has been addressed but, I wouldn't use the Ride-On because this can get into the bead of the tire/rim and eventually cause problems. Check out the "balance beads,' They seem to work well in my tires.
