Default Front Progressive lowering kit and fork oil

Greetings,

Venturing off into unknown, never done it land here. I plan on installing a front lowering kit by progressive this weekend on my 2005 Night Train. I'm also going to do a fluid change, any idea how much fork oil to leave out to make up for the shorter fork now that I've lowered it. Any procedural advice on this mod, do's don'ts ?

Thanks

Would help to know what bike it's going in?? The install and fork oil level varies by model...I have Progressive springs/lowering kit in my Breakout and Rocker. The instructions with the kit for the BO has you measure down a certain distance inside the fork tube (varies by bikes) and lower the oil to that point, if not changing the oil, or fill it up to that point if you are. When I recently installed the lowering kit on my Rocker, I had to replace the oil. (lowering kit install requires fork removal on Rocker, PITA) I just refilled it back up to the level I wanted, which ended up being about 2- 3oz. less then stock capacity, or about 22-23oz. per fork (Rocker only)

When I installed the progressive lowering kit in my Deuce I originally put the factor specified amount of fork oil back in...big mistake, too much. I then realized as you already know, that there isn't as much room for that amount of fluid. I started with 4 oz less then factory specified amount. It was easy to take the top cap off and add fluid. I ended up with right at 3oz less than factory and it's perfect. So depending on how low you go, will be the deciding factor. So maybe start with 4oz less and add a little at a time until you find the right amount. Hope that helps.
