Thats the thing i never replaced the fuel sending unit... this has been happening for a while now and my start ups are getting worse..
My guess would be your fuel sending unit might be bad.... Might wanna get that fixed.
My bike shows a Lo Rang error when it's throwing a fault code. The Fuel sending unit being bad would throw a code. If you have a tuner that reads codes (My FP3 does) than you can review the code, and clear them. There's probably another way to do it... I think it should also clear codes if the fault is fixed... Although, I cannot swear to that.
I saw this this morning and was gonna suggest checking your fuel level float. Now with hard starting, I'd suggest replacing the fuel pump. Did you check fuel pressure as was suggested earlier?

The usual suspects are the fuel hose, fuel filter, fuel regulator and fuel regulator housing.
If the sending unit has been replaced, you need to make sure that there's nothing
shorting and that the ground is good. These types of issues will cause the BCM
to display the lorange. I had this situation when I had reworked some rear turnsignal
wiring. Check all your grounds and look for any wires that might be pinched into
a small short - like pinched into the frame, other wires, etc.
good luck,
T,
my LOW?RANGE light came on occasionally when I ran LED headlight bulb. Seemed every time that warning came on, my right rear blinker would blow.
Now I just use the OEM headlight bulb and no more issues. Keep my fingers crossed.
