Could be the fuel Injectors on the 06. You can get your fuel injectors upgraded to 45 degree ones. They replaced mine for free to fix the sputtering problem that I didn't have. I had bike in the shop in January and I guess they needed to make some money.

Dump the gas, make sure you use premium when you fill back up use the old liquid gold (I mean gas) in your lawnmower.
I get 55 MPG with my FknDLX, if I drive it hard it gets about 40, wish my digital was working better so I could fix my sig pic. Ride safe.
