I rode a Roadking for 3 years and never felt totally comfortable on it during long rides. I am only 5"9. Well I had a small mishap and ended up totalling the RK. I was torn between 2 bikes, the heritage classic and deluxe. I looked at and sat on several differnt ones. I was torn cuz I wanted the windshield and the bags. The deluxe has a beautiful old school look and a lttle more chrome. I liked the floor boards on the deluxe also. Well I chose the deluxe and put the bags and windshield on it. I use it to commute 100 miles a day a few times a week and long rides on weekends. Very comfortable and nimble bike. Still like the heritage but and 100% glad with my choice.

EK5858,

Sorry to hear about your Roadking...hope you weren't hurt on that deal...I see quite a few RoadKings around...owners tell me that you ride 'on' a Roadking and not 'in' your seat like a Heritage...I was never quite sure what they meant by that as I have never rode one...but it appears to be a great touring bike....

...glad to hear that the Deluxe has met (or exceeded) your expectations...especially coming from a Roadking...

...I never really appreciated floorboards until I took a demo ride on a Honda with pegs...what a difference in comfort level...my feet kept sliding off the pegs and I was never sure where they were half the time...I think I'm spoiled now...

...I had the same feeling you had with the RoadKing on my former Heritage Softail Classic...it was a great looking bike and I had all of the normal adjustments made with respect to seat, brake, handlebars etc...but there was something about it that just didn't sit well with me...I'm not sure quite what it was...it was comfortable and yet somehow...I wasn't happy with it...

...When I first went to a dealer a few years ago to buy a bike...I thought I would like to purchase a Fatboy...but that bike didn't feel right either after sitting on it and taking a demo ...at that time I never really thought about getting a Heritage (the Deluxe was not out yet)...but the dealer told me that the Heritage was the most popular model that HD sold and that whether you want to tour or cruise locally...it was the best all around bike and came with all the essentials...so I went for it...

...I have no regrets though...it is an awesome bike...however, had the Deluxe been out at that time...there is no doubt I would have chosen it over the Heritage...
