Default Softail Classic vs Deluxe

I'm looking into buying the new Heritage Classic or Deluxe and leaning toward the Classic due to it come with the extras and has a little more rear shock travel for two up. But I see the Deluxe price on the Harley site is a thousand higher than the Classic. Can anyone tell my why the Deluxe costs more when the Classic has more that comes with it?

NO, I agree with you. The Heritage is a much better deal.

I like the Heritage handlebars, tail light, seat, MUCH better, I kind of like the bullet turn signals on the Deluxe better, then again the lollypop signals on the Heritage have a nostalgic feel.

Many here think the Deluxe tombstone taillight is better looking but I don't agree. The Rocket tail light on the Heritage is very cool. Slight differences here and there, but saddlebags and quick detach windshield and a lower price on the Heritage make the choice a no brainer for me.

This is JMHO. When I sit on both, the Heritage bars and seat are far more comfortable to me, YMMV.

I've had both. The heritage is a better value for the money, but many prefer the Deluxe styling and lower ride height.

The Heritage has better suspension (subjective, as the Deluxe is lowered), saddlebags & windshield, and is more comfortable for 2 up riding. The bags and windshield can be removed in a few minutes, and they look great stripped down.

I currently have a Deluxe in the garage...but I added saddlebags and a windshield (+$1000 over the already higher list price).

If you can, ride both of them. the seat and handle bars are different. Buying a bike that doesn't fit will require money and time to get it right.

I own both and the question of why the Deluxe costs more comes up many times. It's supply and demand, as demand for the Deluxe (mostly due to looks and customization) is higher. The Heritage is a better value given all the extras. Most would argue the Deluxe is a sharper looking bike and a good platform for customization. The ride is very different on stock bikes given the seat position on the two bikes. You sit lower on the Deluxe and the seat is pushed forward which I found uncomfortable. The Heritage has mini apes giving you a higher arm and hand position compared to the Deluxe. Ron
