Considering trading SG for Softail Deluxe
I just sold my FLHS (electra glide sport...basically predecessor to the Road King) last winter, to get my Springer Softail. I needed to go Softail for my comfort.
I hate windshields, don't want stereos or infodainment.
Not a fan of hard bags either...I prefer floppy leather throwovers.
Prefer a more classic look. I've had an FXD and an FLH and still have an XL in the garage, but my Softail is the most comfortable for me...because I sit lower in the frame, more reclined, and I'm tall at 6'5" with a very bad lower back. The "sit on top, sit upright" position of the FLH and FXD were wearing me down comfort wise.
Not all the time. I'm 6' but have short legs, long body. The Deluxe fits me like a glove. Depends on how you're built.
I guess people don't trade motorcycles with one another.
Hate to give it to the Dealer. They are overflowing with used motorcycles, can barely
walk through the aisles and they have 15+ bikes outside to.
It'll pass, Winter is coming
The Best of Harley-Davidson for Lifelong Riders
If you're looking for a softail project; keep your eye open this winter for an older Heritage.
They can be had for less the $6K with a little diligence and luck.

Luckily, after one week of owning the bike, I just couldn't get on with it and I found the ride so different, I went back to my dealer a week later and repurchased my old bike

Please don't get me wrong, the SG is the number one selling Harley but if it don't fit your body shape or riding style, please take time and test ride at least the SG, RG & RK before buying.
I used the extra money to add a Stage 4 and happy days, I got the extra oomph I wanted and I go the ride of a lifetime that fits and suits me...Harley's, don't you just love them
