Default Deluxe or Heritage ?

What is it about the Deluxe, that Harley lists it for $1k more than the Heritage?

The stock Heritage comes with bags and a windshield, which can be removed, but otherwise looks very similar to a Deluxe. But the 2017 Deluxe, without those accessories lists for $1000 more... and somehow, I like it better, but can't put my finger on why.

The differences I can point to: different rake angle, handlebars, different pipes, seat, rack.. don't seem to add up to $1k.

What justifies the $1k price differential?

Just bought a new '16 Deluxe. Dealer had the left over Deluxes and Heritages all at 17K. Your choice. Black or other colors. I chose the Hard Candy Gold. Even got a windshield in the deal.

Was gonna buy the wife a Deluxe...found a good deal couldnt pass up...a 12 Heritage with 650 miles on it. Brought it home and 15 minutes later pretty close to a Deluxe. Best of both worlds.
Dont understand the markup either for the Deluxe...the Heritage sure is the better bargain ..IMO...two for the price of one

In 2015 they lowered the price of the heritage 1000 bucks. I bought mine in 2014 and in that year the heritage was 100 bucks more than a road king.. They price them for what people are willing to pay for them.

I love the Hard Candy Gold. Great looking bike!

The 1k difference? Isn't it he tombstone brake light?

I debated bikes hard when i was looking. Heritage? Deluxe? Slim? Slim S? I was looking at new and used. I came across a deal on a Slim I couldn't pass up... A lot of upgrades, low miles and a good price.

But, the Deluxe I was seeing were tempting me... then I'd think about the Heritage and being able to do the bags thing easily, blah, blah, blah. It was a very tough decision for me. I waffled back and forth many times.

A lot of folks say the Slim is the best looking Softail, a lotta folks say the Deluxe is. Lotta folks say the Heritage is the best deal amongst Softails.

I love my Slim and I'm glad I made the decision I did. But, I'm most glad that I don't have to try and make that decision again!

Bought mine new as a leftover in which i bought bags, windshield, and sissybar i wanted, not necessarily the HD ones with the money i saved. No brainer for me. But to the OP's question about 1k more, it might be the fact that the deluxe retains a higher resale value. Who knows?

Nothing really justifies the 1K difference other than you like it 1K better.

Deluxe is also lower BTW.

Thanks for all the feedback. I was almost hoping there would have been something I missed, like improved suspension, to justify the price. I never noticed the taillight, but I like it.

Axis, I am going through the exact same thing right now: some days I am convinced I should get a Roadking with the M8, other days a Fatboy S, but I keep coming back to the Deluxe and/or Heritage. I also like the idea of getting the Deluxe and getting third party bags and choose my own, removable fairing... I agree with Sleeko though "can't lose with either."

And the bikes a few of you posted are beautiful!
Thanks!
