Default Air Cleaner question for 2015 Fat Boy

I just had my 5,000 mile service on my 2015 Fat Boy and decided to have the dealer install the Screaming Eagle air cleaner at the same time. This is the round style. Unfortunately, when I picked up the bike Sunday it was raining and I was kind of anxious to get the bike home and out of the rain, so I didn't ask some questions that I meant to ask, so here goes.

First question -- the air cleaner appears to use a form of paper filter. Are these user-replaceable? In other words, I am imagining that at some point they become grey/black and dirty. What is the protocol for cleaning or replacing the actual paper filter? Is this a modular, user-replaceable filter setup?

Yes, I used the rainsock on the way home and stored it in my saddlebag for when it rains.

I did not get a chance to get on the highway and see if the air cleaner and re-flash of the EFI chip made any difference as I was riding cautiously -- Southern California roads get slick, oily, and nasty when we get our first rains of the season.

Comments and info appreciated.

Pls, post a pic of the a/c (insert) so we know which type of SE a/c you have....."round style" is not very specific.

AFAIK the SE a/c come with an insert that's not paper (like the oiled K&N filters) but some kind of synthetic fabric. There should be a maintenance instruction available with the filter that explains how to clean the filter insert. You can also try download the instructions from the HD online store: browse your a/c and on the item page check the register "additional information"....

I just looked up the instructions for my SE Ventilator a/c. It says:
NOTE
This is a dry air filter. Do not apply oil to the filter element.
When servicing the air cleaner, apply Loctite 243 - Blue to the threads of all fasteners.
  1. See Figure 2. Remove the air cleaner cover (4) and inspect the filter element (3) every 8,000 km(5000 mi), or more often under dusty conditions.
  2. Clean the filter element (see Figure 1):
    1. Remove and wash the element by immersing it, on edge, in a shallow pan containing enough Air Cleaner/Degreaser (1) to coverno more than three-quarters of the depth of the filter pleats (2), about 9.5 mm(0.375 in).Do not allow dirty solution to get inside the element. Carefully "roll" the element in the solution around its perimeter (3) until the entire outer surface of the filter pleats has been soaked.
    2. Remove the filter element from the cleaner/degreaser. Allow five minutes for the cleaner to dissolve the dirt.
    3. From the inside out, rinse the element with cold water. Shake off excess water. Allow the element to air dry. Do not dry with compressed air.
  3. Install air cleaner filter and cover.
