Laydown License Plate Bracket Question
It is very easy to make the stock plate holder from a Deluxe into a laydown.
Remove the stock holder from the tail light. Take off the tail light, remove the plate "shoehorn". Put the light back on without the shoehorn. Take the stock plate holder, and cut slots on either side of the mount, right where the vertical bends are in the back plate. Cuts should run from bottom up, about an inch. Bend back the area where the plateholderbolts to the light, about 45 degrees. Bolt it back on the light, make any adjustments to the bend to conform to the fender. It is very easy to do, takes about 20 mins, doesn't cost anything, and it looks great.

Nice lookin' scoot!
Thanks. I love your wheels, got any more pictures of the bike. I also checked out your website, I used to have a 66 Nova SS about 10 years ago. Sweet little ride. I just sold my 66 Chevelle SS.

I just sold the Nova last week and bought the deluxe. I haven't been driving it and I desired a second bike.

Before I cut on anything, can you toss in a few photos of your handy work? I have a tendancy of cutting the wrong spots and jacking the part up.
Thanks,
Jason

Some people have said there was one, but I keep sesing the ones for the streetglide, but not the deluxe!
First off, you musttake offthe tombstone tail lightby means ofthe three screws around the lens. Remove the light and unbolt the factory "shoe horn" looking piece that is holding up the plate mount from the back. Then, reinstall the tombstone tail light.
Hold the plate mount bracket back up to the tombstone light mount and mark with a marker, the back of the plate mountto seewhere you need to make your two cuts.
Put the plate mount in a vise and use a saw, dremel, or grinder to make 2 cuts about 1 inch long, where you marked the plate mountfrom the back.
Reinstallthe plate mount back on the tombstone and bend to the desired angle.
Bear in mind, I did this for a temporary mount until I can go back and machine one from aluminum. This will help work as a prototype for the future piece. You can still use this if you'd like, but I would suggest bead blasting it and painting it so the cuts will not rust.
Below are two pics. The first, shown here, should give a good idea as to the angle of the bend in the factory plate mount. You will also notice the red reflector is gone, and in it's place is the white foam adhesive backing from the reflector. I redrilledtwo 1/4" holes in the steel to remount my plate lower and cover up where the reflector was.
The second pic shows the two 1/4" holes better (1/2 in the white and 1/2 in the chrome). If you choose to keep the reflector, you could still use the slotted area to mount your plate back on. Also, you can see the cuts that are the same width as the tail light mounting tab. One cut is to the left of the left-side screw head, and the right to the right-side screw head(right side not as visible).
Hope my little mock up here shows what you've needed for information. I will post pics of the CNC billet aluminum mount when it is completed.
