Default H-D Detachable Bag System..........

There's always a lot of discussion on the Easy brackets vs the Ghost Brackets when it comes to detachable bags.

The H-D Website and the 2007 parts catalog don't have any picture of the docking hardware (p/n 88298-07) and bag set-up. [:@]

Does anybody use the Harley-Davidson Detachable system on their Softails?

HD docking hardware sucks ***... its plastic garbage

Get a BOSS bag... detachable

easy brackets and ghost brackets are alright..but anyhoo...

if u gonna pay for the HD ones might as well go with Boss bags instead
and dont buy the HD t/s relocation(for rear at least) they are FUGLY

I went with kuryakyn strut mounted LED bullets... they are nice/small

If I had some extra money, id rip off my HD detachable system and bags and buy BOSS bags with a cup holder
and buy Bubbas laydown license plat with t/s holes

Bubba has a detachable system as well, its pretty good, specially their detachable sissybar/rack thing(all chrome)
and they have a t/s relocation thing for a laydown license plate.

you do have a bob-tail fender so you might have more options on the t/s relocation (or less) hehe

I dunno.. why they havent but it takes like 10times or so takeing off the HD detachable bags off their mounting system to start chiping the plastic in there..then they will start to have some play on the mounting bracket

I hate Saddlebags!!! They hide your nice wheels. I ride solo anyhow (My wife has her own bike), so I strap on a T-Bag to the "detachable" sissy bar. I actually switch the nuts every time I put on the sissy bar. I don't have turn signals either.... I have the Panacea rear tail light with signals built in and arms. I guess I didn't like the detachable system either, the bags are small anyway. I am actually looking for a mountable tool pouch/bag, that works with the Springer.

I have the HD detachable backrest/luggage rack, and saddle bags on my FatBoy.

Guess I'm lucky, as I've never had any problem with it, and installation or removal only takes a couple seconds.

OldFenderGuy, I've got the same bags - can you take a couple of pics with your bags on, mainly close up of with the bags on near the passenger floor boards?

I'm having a helluva time getting the original bolts from the sissy bar bracket...damn things must be loctite.

I couldn't tell from the post if you're looking to attach bags you already have or are looking at new bags. I bought the new (2007) HD detachable bags (88237-07) and really like them. What I didn't personally care for with the aftermarket QD systems was the wide bracket that pushes the bags about an inch out from the fender supports. I guess it's just a personal preference, but a lot of people with that system have seen these new bags and like them much better. I don't have specific photos, but the attached should give you a pretty good idea... (PS - I also have the detachable backrest so the mounts are moved out that much further to accomodate that system also)
