Got It!!!!
Hey all. It's been a while since I've been around but haven't been able to get online since we moved into a new home and just got some things situated around here - including internet. Anyway, I finally got my Custom yesterday. Since the dealer in my area were real ****** and wouldn't deal I went to the San Antonio area and got my bike. SA is about 5 hours north of me and the dealer is about another 15 minutes west of SA. I trailored my Warrior up there and they took that down and put the custom up on the trailer - so no chance to ride it. I dropped my wife off at the midway point to visit her family while I continued on to get the bike. When I got back I unloaded the Cutom and took it for a short ride. We stayed the night and I rode it home while she pulled the empty trailer back home. Even though it was raining like hell I was bound and determined to ride the new bike home. Luckily about 45 minutes into the ride the weather started to clear. Ok, first impresstions: The Custom has a very different feel to it. It seems the front end wants to "dive" into a turn. It's pretty un-nerving right now, but something I'll just need to get used to. It of course doesn't have the power of my Warrior has that was a 102, but I'm not looking for power - comfort is what I was after. The bike is unbelievably smooth with very little vibration. The suspension just makes the bike feel like I'm riding on silk - really nice. Overall the bike is VERY comfortable and smooth and felt damn good under me. If someone makes 3 inch extenions for the foot controls, that's something I'd need to look into. My knees are a bit too bent for my tastes, but I had that problem on every bike I've owned - all got either highway pegs, extensions or forwards. When I got home I noticed I didn't have any hand-buzz that I got with the Warrior after riding for a couple hours - nice not to have that feeling.
congrats on your new ride. softails are the smoothest of all the HD bikes. the TC "B" motor has counter balancing built in so it's great. I got my first softail back in 03, and since then I've put on about 35K on it.. including a Calif. to North Carolina jaunt a couple of years ago. Very nice ride.
They do make 4" extentions for the forward controls, but you might want to ride it a bit before you make a lot of changes. You might try high way pegs first, that way you can move your feet around a bit on those longer rides.
congrats again!!

Congrats on the new ride. I traded my beloved 98 Wideglide in on a 07 FXSTC in November. Took a month or so to get used to it, but now there's no regrets at all. Sweet ride, and it looks damn good too!!
Congrats on the new bike and welcome to the Custom club.
I didn't notice anything odd about the front end, but I will warn you that in cooler weather the fat tire out back can get 'interesting' in hard cornering. Twist that right grip a bit too hard when your turning in an intersectionand if there are any of those tar stips on the pavement it will try to skip across them sideways.
I think thestock tire's rubber compound is just a little bit too hard to handle the bikes weight and the engines torquein the lower gears.
As much fun as it isI have to keep reminding myself thatits not acrotch rocket.
