About two months ago, on what was to be a trip of a lifetime to California with a group of friends, I had the misfortune of having a tractor trailer rig at 60 mph decide that my lane was where he wanted to be even though I and my bike were still in it. We were about an hour and a half West of Chicago on I-80 in the rain. I opted to try to swerve around the rig to avoid going under the trailer. I ran out of pavement and went down into the median. The median was about six feet deep like a dish and was grassy. With all the rain it made for a slick slide. The bike dug in as it went down on the right hand side and I was able to push away from the bike just before it high sided. Although banged up and bruised, I walked away from the accident. The bike, not so lucky, was written off.
So after a two month absence of having my bike, I took delivery this week of a 2014 Limited. And so far, I am impressed with the ride. No problems have surfaced and it does all that is supposed to do and then some.
Here are pics of my broken bike and the new ride.
Glad you came out relatively healthy. I'm glad there wasn't a cross over barrier on your side of the highway. Semi drivers around these parts seem to be some of the worst drivers on the highway. They are so big the do anything they want. I try to avoid them when possible. Nice looking new limited. Enjoy the bike.
