I replaced my stock 18 smoke with a clear 16 LRS. No buffeting and now can see over it. Christmas is coming and i think tjey run them for about half off MSRP.

Sounds like the same reasons I switched. Bike came with a 20 inch stock windshield. I couldn't really look over it, always had to look through it. 16 inch recurve took care of that.
The shorter recurve works for some but not all. I couldn't use one, and I really really wanted it to work. But the head buffeting was so bad it was dangerous. So on my Deluxe, it's either REALLY short, or it's the 20" billboard size....which I hate.
I put an 18" on my Heritage and love it. Now I can see over my windshield, with no buffeting. It came to me perfect, flawless & clear. And their current prices are a great value. I give LRS a big thumb's up!
In my case, lower deflectors did very little to reduce the buffeting. I tried the 16" which was the worst for buffeting, as well as the 18". Better but still too much. Plus with the 18, I was looking partially through the shield with the top edge right in my main line of sight.
I ended up cutting a windshield down enough that it puts my head/helmet in clean air, and takes the wind pressure off my mid section. Fixed!
