Default Suspension

Happy Late Thanksgiving all hope you all ate enough of the bird yesterday! Now on to my question I want to lower my softail fxsti and I i was looking at the progressive 442 i believe to lower it 2' from stock height. I can't afford air ride suspension because I have too many other things that are costly add on's to my bike this winter but maybe you fella's can recommend me some different types of suspension adjustments?

Happy Late T day, I just lowered my 16 Deluxe 1 inch front and back with 422's and Progressive lowering cartridges in the front, Progressive told me they don't recommend more then about 1,5 inch drop due to dragging boards/pegs and ride quality. Direct cycle parts had a good price, I would recommend the Progressive web site for some more info on their products. Mine rides much better then stock, I went with standard weight springs on the 422"s. Good luck with it. (sorry a little long winded)

I'm in the same boat as you. I'd like to eventually get the shotgun shock but I just have to many other things I want to spend money on right now haha. Are you planning on doing a lot of 2 up riding? I'm going to just throw in the spacers in the rear for now which can lower it 1.5" or 2" from softailloweringkit.com. Its only $80. My wife does ride with me, but not that much so it shouldn't be a big deal as I hope to get the shotgun shock next winter. If you do a lot of 2 up riding, the spacers may not be the best idea for you. Ive heard guys run them for quite a while. It's sort of a temporary thing I'm going to run until I can get the shotgun shock. Also doing progressive drop ins for the front. Just another option for ya.

I've been running 422s for 2 seasons now on my Breakout. Regular springs not the heavy duty ones. Lowered the rear by about 1". Dropped in Progressive front springs as well. Compared to stock either mod quite improved riding and handling of the bike. Can really recommend the 422s.
