Do a bit more on this one, though.

I still get a kick out of this picture of your son. Reminds me of my boy - who is 34 now.
PS, don't forget the S100 Corrosion Protectant for the salt.

For all you riders that don't want to ride on salty roads, spray your bike down (not rotors) with S100 Corrosion Protectant. Has been working for me for about 10 years = no rust or corrosion anywhere. I should get a commission from pushing this product so much around here.

That and heated gear lets me ride all year even down to the low teens on salty roads. I'm not spending $35K for a bike and then store it for 5 months every year.
If you REALLY want to ride = Get the S100. You won't regret it. I promise.

Felt comfy at right about 20F today, but I called it quits and went home when I got to a road that had piles of dry salt crystals where the snow hadn't covered the whole road. I'll admit I didn't ride one of the Harleys, just too much packed slick snow for two wheels, used the Ural sidecar rig. At least I got a little time in the breeze, felt good,

December rides are rare here, and this is the first year I've gotten out at least once every month. Last January was the first in the 30 years I've lived here with roads clean enough for a ride, hope that happens again next year. Also hoping for some below zero decent roads, would like to see how the bike takes it. Be great to get a hard snow pack at 10 below, wouldn't be any salt water at that temp. I'd have to get new gloves, though, my 1978 snowmobile gloves finally have some seams coming open. Can't complain, lasted 28 years, rode in several states with them. American made, worth paying for.

Grandson, I'm 69. That's also him in the sig pic; his Mom (my daughter) took the pic from the sidecar. I bet he never forgets the first time he gave his Mom a ride.

You and ih4x4 would make quite a pair, riding your trikes in a snowstorm. Probably get some cool pics, too.

Went out for a nice ride two days last week. Now we have a bunch of rain and snow mixed. Salt and sand flies. Now, it might be time to put her away but I will keep an ear to the weather. Would ride all winter if I could.

If the streets are dry and it's above 40°, I'll ride.

I ride year around. Last year from Nov. 1 to March 32 I got in over 14K here in N. W. Illinois.

My standard is clear roads and teens up. Salt? Has not ever been an issue to any bike that I have had since my first riding winter in 56/57.

I feel that winter riding does not just maintain riding skills but improves on them. The road surface conditions, speed, following distance and other factors are much more critical in winter conditions.

I would think that taking 4 to five months off riding is not good for skills.

Did a nice little ride to the dealer today of 60 miles. Clear roads and 23 degrees. They had a 25% off sale going on.

My 07 FXSTC has been on winter roads ever since the winter of 06/07.

I do not have heated gear but have been getting by since my teens with a pair of insulated cover alls. My issue is with the face shield on my helmet fogging up. I have always worn a half helmet or no helmet, last year I got a modular for cold weather because for some reason I get a headache nowdays when riding in the cold. While sitting in traffic I can flip the shield or front part of helmet up to prevent fogging, this is not an option while riding on the interstate. The helmet has a vent in front and two in top, face shield fogs with vents open or closed. Top vents open = headache. How do you guys prevent the foggy face shield?
