Default Sheet metal question

I have an 02 FLSTF carb and am looking at a paint set that is for an 06. I emailed the seller to ask if it was for carb and injected and they told me the tanks are the same for 04-06. So, will an 06 tank fit my bike with or without an adapter or am I screwed and will have to keep looking for a different set? Any help would be great. Here is a pic of how the bike looks now, just doing a bit of a face lift on it.

They are not all the same. The carb and fi tanks are different. Make sure you get the right one, or you're wasting your money. Of course, it can be made to work, but is it worth it?

Yeah, I have heard on the earlier they were different, but this parts manager is telling me the later ones are the same. I have heard that with the earlier ones you can get an adapter to go from an injected tank to a carb, which wouldn't be a big deal, but if 06 sheet metal isn't going to work at all then I will keep looking. If all I need is an adapter, then I am fine with that. Hopefully I can find an answer one way or another. Nice scoot BTW.

Only reason I saw it's different, is because a really good friend of mine has an 06 Deuce. I'm doing the paint work for him. Rather than repaint his, he's going to pack it up and keep it. He bought an extra set of tins (gotta love ebay). Everything he looked at said that there was a difference in the carb model. Call your local dealer and ask for the part numbers for the two tanks, one injected, one carbed. If they match.... done deal. I didn't know there were adapters either. That's good info! Gotta post the pics once you get the parts changed.

carbed tanks and injected tanks are definitely different. The injected tanks have a hole about 3" by 5" under the dash area to mount the pump. I have heard of kits but never seen them. Here's a pic of an injected fatboy tank with the hole
