Hi all , this is my first thread I've ever posted so bear with !
One thing I don't like about my bike is the crappy orange colored dash/ speedo lighting that it came with factory . this is my first Harley so im still learning the ins and outs of things that can be changed. I have red accent leds under the tank I wired in and I want to change the dash lights to red.
1. because itll look ****
2. because I hate orange
3. because I think red is easier to see personally.
question is , is it possible? ive never pulled the dash piece off of the tank. is it a sealed unit with the orange lights or can I change them to red leds? I don't care about the turn signals or ABS light or the neutral light. just the guage itself. I know the touring guys with fairings can change their lights and ive searched on here the best I can to find the info I need but nothing has popped up. thanks in advance!!!
I did some digging on youtube and found a video on how to remove the speedo and the bezel and guage and yeahh. Mother deffinatly has the right idea here. I was expecting there to be some regular 194 bulbs or something under there but its far from that LOL !! I looked at Dakota Digital and 500 dollars is just stupid money for that!
2nd, unless you're good at micro soldering, you can't change the LEDs in the guage itself.
Well, I wouldn't exactly call it "micro" soldering, but it does take a steady hand. I did this write-up like 5-6 years ago, and still don't have issues, and you can see by my pics that I wasn't graceful that day.
Yes, you can pay a few guys out there that charge you and can change the face, too. But I like the ~$25 option of doing it myself better. That's just me.
And, +1 on the manual. gonna be wrenching, you need it. Good luck!

Thanks for that link. I wasn't sure and sure as hell couldn't remember where to look for that!

Look up Jim Frederick on FB. He owns Gauge Modz and can do exactly what you want cheap and fast. Have had a few buddies do it through him and couldn't be happier
