When I hit pot holes or speed bumps I hear a rattle up front. Can't really find anything butI think it may be comming from the hub cover. Not sure if that is exactly what it is called. I have removed the windshield and that's not it. Anyone else have this.
Thanks for your input.
The frontsteering headbolt is loose that holds the front fork assembly to the frame. It's a common problem and easy to fix but being an 07 take it back to the dealer.
I had a rattle in the front end of my 07 fatboy and ended up being a loose busing in the fork tube. See if if makesaclangingnoise when you push down on the forks at a stop. I found out mine did itand it also made a metalclanging noiseover slow speed bumps, couldn't hear at higher speeds. The dealer ended up replacing both fork tubes since both had loose bushings and there was no way to adjust.
Hi all, this is my first post here but I have been lurking for some time. I have a 2007 Softail Custom and had the same noise in mine. The dealer called Harley and they had them replace both front fork tubes. There was a loose bushing, improperly machined, is what they called it. One tube was ok and one wasn't. I was picking the bike up and another came in with the same noise. I love my bike but it was a disappointment to have to go thru that. I want to put V&H pipes on it but unsure of which to go with. I think slip ons would be easier. I was wondering if I would have to have the dealer do those or could I do it without a reprogram ordeal? I want some noise but no baffles would be too loud for my neighbors *L*.
I hope you find your trouble because it is fine on an older XL one like the oneI did have but not a new bike. regards, Larry in Tennessee
