Default Seat Fit

Hi all. Been looking at various solo seats for my 2002 Fat Boy and there seem to be a lot of used newer types using the single or double fender bolt attachment rather than the older side frame attachment for sale.

Has anyone fit one of these seats on an older bike? Looks like if I just drill the fender and add the bolt assembly it should work but before I start butchering my fender thought I'd ask if anyone has done this before.

Can't say for certain but I think the fenders are a bit wider on the newer Fatboys with the 200mm tire. Not sure their seat bracketry would work on your bike if the fender is to narrow....... unless you got a seat with only the one bolt in the center holding it down on the fender.

Yeah, seats from the 200 size tire bikes likely won't fit but I think the deluxe and heritage still have the narrow tires even now right?

Not sure if it will be the same, but I have a 2002 heritage fender on my 2015 Slim with a newer Heritage solo seat (the one with the duel fender bolts). I just drilled a hole and used a small round file to make the notch.

Thanks. Assume that picture was before you drilled the two holes in the fender? I only see the one and the fender film.
If so, looks like I could do the same thing on my 2002 Fat Boy.

I don't have the brackets for the duel holes, so I just use the single hole already on the seat. I think it's the hole for the optional seat rail.
