Default Pulley help

So my issue is I have a 99 fat boy I'm at the final stages of building the way I want, I got some spokes off a buddy's 05 heritage. I know the bearings are different and all that but I'm looking for a rear sprocket that will fit the 05 wheel and not tear up my bike. I asked some of the "techs" at my local Harley and as I figured to answers . So any help would be greatly appreciated, first post btw.

By what do you mean, "tear up my bike" Don't understand your issue. The 2000-2006rims take the same axle so no problems there. Only difference is the type of bearing. As for the pulley any HD 2000-2006 pulley will work fine The difference is in the diameter of the center mount in 2000 is 2.02"

Hey 98, what about the spacers (between the wheel and the swingarm)?

The hub widths are different between the two generations so yes new spacers will be needed. When I installed the later style rims I had the hub narrowed to eliminate any offset that softballs are known for and installed new spacers. Don't forget that the brake rotor also has a larger diameter center hole...

you can buy an adapter off ebay to use a 1999 pulley on a 2000 up wheel. My 99 fatboy came with heritage wheels on it...the only fatboy wheels I could find at a good price were the newer ones so when I install them I'll either use an adapter an the 99 pulley or get a newer pulley an get the narrower belt so I can sneak a wider tire in there.

Couple comments...

He also may be referring to pulley offsets (besides the 99-earlier vs. 2000-later hole ID and tooth count)...They're not all the same

That particular adapter would have be a Spacer also (at least 3/16")...some would need to take that into account
