What do I have?......
I've owned a number of bikes over the years: Triumphs, BMW's, Honda...this if my first HD.
here's what I know:
Titled as: 2002 ASM (I assume means assembled i.e. custom)
Motor: Bottom is is S&S Super Stock
Top end appears to be Evo
Frame: Is an Ultra Cyles frame. It's a softail, but not sure of what model.
Tins, Front fork, Wheels appear to be FatBoy.
Story I got from the owner, who appears legit, is that he had a HD dealer/buddy build the bike in 2002 over a 6 month period. The previous owner was very sketchy/unsure of a lot of the specific details/questions I asked. He had more money than knowledge....lots of cool toys at his place. Bike hasn't been registered since 2009. Since 2002, he's ridden the bike just over 2000 miles....which is what it has on the odometer. Original title signed over to me indicates 9 miles, so the dealer rolled the odometer back.
So here's the rub: I want to accessorize the bike a bit. Right now, I'm mostly interested in 2 things:
1. New Seat
2. Getting adapters to move the controls forward 2-3".
I'm thinking that a lot of the specs/measurements on this Ultra Cycle frame are consistent with HD. Like foot controls, tank mount points, seat mount points. IS THERE A DEFINITIVE WAY TO DETERMINE WHAT YEAR(S) KIND OF FRAME I HAVE WITH REGARDS TO THIS?? I'm inclined to think 84-99, but not sure.
I picked up a batwing of CL...came off a later model softail. The holes not he bracket are about 1" farther apart then the bolts on my forks. Additionally, he had 4 seats we mocked up...NONE fit. Again, they were from a later model HD....early 2000's I believe.
Regards,
Jason
Owner at ultra was a very nice guy. Spent nearly 30 mins on the phone with me asking particulars about the bike trying to help me figure it out. He was pretty happy to see some of his stuff still looking good too.
