Congrats on the new ride. I recently moved to a 2016 Heritage from a 2002 Heritage. Rode metrics before that. I am 5'9" but have short legs so the Heritage fits me well. The 2016 I had th chrome front end installed before I picked it up. I installed crash bar, LED headlight and running lights from DK, Reinhardt Longshots, high flow air filter, and breather bypass from DK. As JetFever mentioned I also purchased the FP3 for tuning. Made quite a difference. Need to add tunes and Nav now.
Ride safe-
I've always had Street/Electra Glides, but I recently picked up a Heritage that I bumped into at a garage sale (of all places). I can definitely see both sides of this coin. I like the Heritage for all the reasons everyone mentioned (sitting in it; no extra electronic crap, etc.), but there are also times that I just like a great big fat touring bike. Not sure I could pick one over the other, but the Heritage is great in its own right.
Congrats on the new Heritage. I moved from an Ultra to a Fat Boy for similar reasons. My Ultra was just too much bike for my needs. My Fat Boy is 100 pounds lighter, more maneuverable and faster.
Congratulations on a great choice. Black Quartz is beautiful! I have a '91 Heritage and a '12 Street Glide. I know what you are talking about! After 26 years I still love that Heritage.
First Harley is the Heritage (in my signature, daily driver) because of the fit and the older style look. I love it and would not give it up for anything, it is just perfectly the way I want it. I sat on some touring bikes (even the new M8's) and man they are heavy and to many electronic distractions.
But gosh all mighty taking it on long rides I can't see us doing it, our longest day ride is just over 400 miles and we can't hardly move when we get off. We stop about every 60 miles or so (wife needs her smoke break). We are older (60 ish) but we were going to try to take it to Denver (from Phx) and no way could we sit that long.
I recently traded in my 2012 Street glide for a Heritage classic "Black Quartz"
I luv it for most of the reason mentioned above....
Just put American custom mufflers on it and Sat, I will finish the stage one....
