Default Ape hanger install help

I am installing a set of 14 inch tall by 36 inch wide ape hangers on my bike and I need new throttle cables. My clutch and brake cables are fine cause I am swapping out a set of 18's and they were on the short side. But my throttle cables frayed and need replacing so I would like to get some nice sized ones so I don't have excessive cables sticking out.

Also I little copper piece popped out of my throttle side switch housing and I can't figure out where it goes.

Looks like it might be the throttle lock shoe. The thumb screw that comes from the bottom. That goes on top. Hard to tell from the pic

That a bad pic, but AFAIK the only copper piece in there is one some years had a wedge piece that hold the brake light switch in place.

I have been looking at diagrams of the throttle side housing and I can't see that part anywhere

Ok that copper piece was in there as a spacer for the brake switch. I have to come up with something better than that when it goes back together. As for the cables I thought think a set of 38" throttle and idle cables would be about right
