My guess, and it is just a guess, is that Harley will keep the 103 in the standard (base) softail models in 2018 and introduce an S option for some models, with the M8, for maybe $3k more. (If it requires a different frame, it might be even more).
That way Harley can sell less expensive bikes to people who would otherwise walk away, while charging a premium to those willing to pay for the M8.
It is what auto manufacturers do with 'trim' levels. Harley does the same thing with the: 'S', Special and CVO lines.
Look at the price differences, for example in the Dodge lineup of Chargers. They charge much more for the Hemi line (more than their cost differential) and a whole lot more for the SRT line.

I like your take on this, Mr. Moth. It may not be right, but it makes sense.
We should just go in & blow the crap out of NK.
As far as china goes, we don't need to fire a single shot.
Just quit buying all their crap. They'd sink like a rock.

I would like to give this thread the prize for having gotten farther off track than heretofore thought possible. A question about a new engine in the Heritage Softail ended with a discussion of nuclear war with North Korea.
