Is a wheel bearing failing causing the axle to tighten towards the front on acceleration, letting the wheel move.

There are several other things it could be including out of adjust steering stem/neck bearings. But I still stand by tire pressure or wheel alignment. And you did verify they didn't put the tire on backwards right?

If the axle is right and adjusted it really can't move right? It's either the neck bearings or something up front( could be front wheel bearings or any number of things), or, the wheel has movement and play on the axle. It's not a 150hp axle breaker is it?

Edit: under throttle the front end should be as unloaded as it's gonna get so either neck bearings or play in the rear bearings.

Lol, no, just a Stage I.

Checking the tire pressure, and alignment of the rear makes sense to me. I torqued it all to spec, but maybe there was some play in those adjusters that I missed. I could see where if it were a bit out of alignment to the right, maybe when the load is applied, it wants to pull that way, vs when it is coasting.

Didn't even think to check if the tire is backwards! I'll take a look.

I know that one particular time when I was tired and in a hurry, I torqued the rear axle and in the process I pulled it just slightly crooked off of the adjusters.

I've never ridden a street bike with the tread backwards, but I have dirt bikes and cars, and neither particularly liked it. But of course some tread patterns are more aggressive and likely to cause problems than others.

If the bike shift one way on acceleration and the other way on decel, unless your alignment is grossly off, I don't think it's an alignment issue. Something is allowing the wheel to shift, or you have a cracked frame.

Recheck axle tightness, alignment, wheel bearings, and make sure your axle adjusters are tight against axle and locknuts are snugged tight.

Rear axle nut had worked itself loose!! Wow. Lucky that clip is on there. Alignment looks right, but being loose was causing it to shift off the adjuster under load. Checking the torque again... and should I use Loctite even on that one?

Re-checked the belt tension too. Maybe I'll just button it back up, and check it again after each of the next few rides.

Im a big fan of that staying tight! So locktight would be welcome in that application.
