Default wheel bearings

hi, help! fatboy solid wheels on 99 heritage- front wheel bearings will not clamp tight still got play unless i remove both thin washers and one thicker on disc side of wheel;; is this viable or have bearings worn out; also apart from buying a puller, how do you get outer shell out impossible to drift as inner lip in way both sides, thanks

are you sure the shaft is in far enough? many people get a drill bit the same size as the hole in the axel shaft, then tap it so it wont go anymore (with bit in hole), then put on your nut. might solve the prob.

You should have some end play in the axle when the wheel is torqued. Usually need .002 to .006". If you have too much remove shims. If you have too little, add shims. You need a dial indicator with a magnatic base to do this job properly.

As far as the bearings being worn out, if they still look good and are not scored, rusted or pitted, they should be fine. I had 80,000 miles on the wheel bearings on my '95 Roadking and they were fine.

thanks for ideas, have repacked bearings , put back with two fine shims left out the one thicker washer, had to add a large washer outside of spacer to get desired effect though, now cant torque up spindle nut very hard, but wheel spins and runs no problem,maybe a thinner washer would do trick, i will keep at it, cheers;;;;;;;;;;;
