Thanks for the feedback.
As far as my riding, haven't done much highway riding.
Prefer winding roads.
Actually oil usage could be bc I keep my revs close or over 3k.
These bikes red line around 5k.
Hardly ever use 6th gear; you feel a disconnect w the motor bc it's so smooth in 6th.
Im gonna keep an eye on my dip stick .
I'll be happy w 1/2 quart usage every 2k miles.
Again Thanks Everyone
3K RPM is the equivalent of a bit over 70 mph in sixth gear. For the fun of it, start using sixth gear for a couple of thousand miles, which will lower your rpm and see how much oil it uses..

How many miles do you guys have on your bikes? My bike never used a drop of oil between changes until I got around 30k miles on it, then it started using some when I run 70 mph or so..

No...3000 RPMs on a softail is Lose Your teeth Fillings speed on a softail....from the vibrations.

I can lug my motor all day long because I use Amsoil.

Good luck with that theory, hopefully you have ESP!

All my riding is at 70-75mph speed limits. I've yet to use oil on the M8, and my evo leaked so much I couldn't tell if it burned any.

As far as lugging, on the M8 that lugging is under 2000 rpm.

Don't try to argue with hog-doc. He knows it all, from all the years that he worked at some indiscriminate HD shop. He's a wealth of knowledge far beyond what most of us will ever know.

Anything under 2800 is lugging it and bad for my bottom end? Lol. 99.99% Harley owners have been driving incorrectly then.

not sure if you were being sarcastic, or sincere?
Me personally wouldn't attack, or disrespect a forum member. Unless they were being total dinks. I can only think of one LOL... But regarding lugging a motor when riding at rpm's lower that 2,800 IMO I think is exaggerating to some degree. There are certain factors on certain bikes where IMO might develop some issues with the bottom end, but on most bikes built aft 2006 I think as long as they're well maintained, shouldn't have to worry
