So one thing ive yet to come up with a good answer for is why Harley kickstands ( Jiffy Stand? ) are like they are? every other bike ive ever seen has a kickstand that goes down and it makes a solid kickstand but Harley stands wiggle and move back and forth and stuff. why does Harley do this?im sure there is a good logical reason as to why they do it?
Harley stands wiggle and move back and forth and stuff. why does Harley do this?
They "wiggle" because of the lock...once it is in place...the stand cannot move...best design I've ever seen on a bike...park any other bike on a downhill slope and watch how fast it falls over.
Get on your hands and knees and take a closer look at it while someone lifts it off the stand and sets it back down.
There's an interlocking mechanism that prevents it from folding up as long as there is weight on it.
Oh really? well that makes more sense now. I don't have another person to lift it up for me so I never really looked at it. so basically as long as there is weight on it theres no chance the stand could fold closed and the bike fall over?
at first it really made me nervous how it moves. i always thought it was going to fold up. i didnt know it locked down after it had weight on it! thanks!!
