I just got my 17 and naturally we cant leave well enough alone. I know I am going to stage 1 the bike. My last Heritage, an 04 had a Big sucker / PC / Samson true duals with fishtails.
I definately want to go true duals with fishtails again. I liked the Samsons but I know they had some QC issues in the recent past.
What set ups are you guys using. Pictures if ya gottem..
ON our 07 Heritage that we got new and at the 1 K service I done the usual stage1,, Rush muffs, SE-AC and the SERT which was about the best tuner back then and a Dyno.
Then at the 15k I added some Andrews 26's and retuned,, it's been that way for the last 8 years and almost 40k more miles without ever having to touch the engine..
Plenty of ump (TQ) for me since the cams..
the 103's have more of course, but IFFy I ever got another new one --(Doubtful now since I am 67). I'd lean more to just doing the pipes for a while to see if I really wanted/needed any more....
Not fishtails but I'm running the V&H Big Shots long on my heritage and I'm super happy with them. I almost did fishtails but decided to go with these last minute.
If you truly want a stage 1, and nothing more later, I recently installed the $199 Fuel Moto Micro tuner and S&S Stealth intake. I couldn't be happier. It's the wrong tuner if your planning further upgrades later. But its the best bang for the buck if a Stage 1 is all you are looking for.

Thanks for the info everyone.. I took a ride over to Mayhem and their gonna figure out a few options. Theyre thinking Rinehart / PC / Big Sucker
I have a 2012 Heritage and my Stage I upgrade was installed prior to delivery. This was well before Samson moved to Sturgis and began having their problems. It was also a time before they had removable tips on their fishtails. I don't know the current state of Samson quality or their wait times on a true dual system.
From a purely aesthetic standpoint, I happen to like the look of the Samson true dual fishtails over the others, including V&H.
I have the SE heavy breather, Samson 28.5" fishtails and the Power Vision tuner.
I have a 2007 Heritage with Power Commander III, SE AC with K&N filter and Vance and Hines Big Shots Staggered and couldn't be happier. ......over 10 years and not one issue!
'14 Deluxe here, first thing I did was stage 1 with V&H Big Shots and added a K&N eliminating the football cover. Next month I then went Stage 2 with the SE-254E cam, SE tuner, and a dyno. Runs much better than stock.

THANKS!!
I have the Samson Longtails, with the removable tips. Got them before the move/troubles. Other alternative is the V&H, and with them you don't need to use the funky shift rod.
I'm running a Performance Plus Stage I, and it is definitely a step up from the typical Stage I.
