hi all, new member here. This is my 07 fxst. The Modifications it has is a screaming eagle exhaust, power commander 3, and a set of handle bars.
I will be changing the seat to something much more narrow. I'm 6 feet tall and 180 with some back issues. What seat do you guys/girls recommend for ~3 hour rides? Solo seat is a-ok. I am leaning toward a Mustang seat based on a low of feedback i've received. I would love to hear what people in a similar situation are putting on their bikes?
Brakes- i've put a couple thousand miles on my bike, and i'm relly not confident in the factory brakes. i need something better. what is the best route to go ? new caipers ? dual caliper setup ? new rotors/pads ?
Tires- i've got a 200 rear. can i go any wider on the factory wheel/swingarm?
I would like to go a little wider on the front. I've got a factory 21" front with dunlops..... i would like something a little bit softer. i need to grip - particularly for braking. what do you guys suggest ?
Few things....
* The seat - Narrow, nah go wide if you want comfort for a 3 hour ride. Mustang makes a fine seat and some of the HD seats are very good too
* The brakes - This concerns me.. Stock brakes work well. Very few people bitch about them. I owned an 04 and 06 and the brakes were fine. My concern is your stock system may have an issue and I'd go down that path first..
I have the danny gray butt crack solo on my '06 and have gone for 9hrs in a day. Did you come from a sport bike to a harley? Wider tire = new swing arm, rim, spacers, fender etc etc
