Softail Help needed Please, keeps breaking down!
I have a 2016 Slim, its had 16" LA Choppers Treehugger apes DNA Mammoth Wheels 21"/18" Harrison Billet 4 Pot callipers front and back, Screamin eagle heavy breather, V&H pipes and a screamin eagle super tuner. thats all the mods incase any are relevant.
Since ive had the wheels changed, the ABS system hasn't worked, no trouble, ive done 1000 miles, probably nearer 1500 since, no problem.
The problem is, i was riding along, and completely out of the blue, the check engine, battery, key fob lights all came on, the screen read Bus error, all the lights and buttons stopped working, but the bike kept running, i rode home, switched it off and it wouldn't turn back on again.
trip to the local dealer revealed it was the BCU that had blown up. they replaced it and i was away.
they told me it was because the bearings weren't ABS, and the ABS system couldn't work it out so it blew up the BCU.
I got HD ABS bearings fitted in the wheels to be sure,(turns out one of the bearings was fitted backwards so it wasn't picking up the sensor) the ABS now works below 80 mph, anything above that, the light comes back on.
I did about 500 more miles and exactly the same thing happened again.
I took it back to the dealer and they came to work on it the day after and i was told the battery had discharged, but it was the BCU that had blown up again.
has any one got any clue what can be causing this? i honestly have no idea whats going on.
