so I Have 1998 soft tail Custom and I am looking for a seat. I have a guy that says he has a seat off a 1988 ST heritage (2 piece). Are these interchangable??
I can't answer your question specifically, but here is a trick I use....
Using your case as an example.... I'd look up a similar aftermarket seat, like a two piece Mustang seat. Then I'd check the fitment chart and see if it includes both a '98 custom and an '88 Heritage...
If both are included in the fitment chart, while not a guarantee, it would be a good indicator.
I would check a couple different seats on a couple different vendor sites like Revzilla, J&P cycles, and the manufacturer for the fitment charts...
evo softails up to 99 are about the same...in like 89 they changed the rear shocks an maybe swing arm, 96 wiring/controls were updated. I hear at some point in the early/mid 90's the front tab changed for softail seats but you can modify one to work with the other by moving the tab...I have a sweet custom covered Corbin for sale in the evo classified since I just sold my evo.
