Default Engine Bars with Extended Forward Controls

Just done this & hope it helps someone else...

'04 FXST has had the fwd controls moved 3" to the front with the Ness kit & all was fine. But, the mounting holes for engine bars are on the base of the brackets & those also moved. I decided to take a punt and bought a cheap engine bar from eBay & of course, the holes didn't line up.

So, 2 new holes drilled in the bottom mountings and rattle-can painted.

Then a couple of stud connectors were slightly shorted with the angle grinder (one before & one after). Needed to be 27mm and were 30mm.

Then all fitted pretty well. Finished result:

Not to shabby a result for a girl!

When the foul weather arrives for winter, I'll grind the excess length off, give the bars a tidy and have them powdercoated.

Looks like a perfectly good solution to me!
Did the bars interfere with anything if you would have used the factory holes? Just curious why they werent working for you. I also have Ness forward brackets and was debating a highway bar...

Not interfering with anything, just that the original holes didn't line up anymore.
