Default Heritage wheel change

Hey y'all.....newbie here to the forum but not to bikes. I do have a duh huh question though and looking for confirmation to my suspected answer.

I have a 98 Heritage that has 3 dents in the front rim......guessing it's been like that since I bought it as it's always shook a little. I attributed it to bad balancing and the tire being worn funky. SO, I bought a replacement rim but it's 3 1/2" wide.....1/2" wider than factory. Will all I need to do is change spacers on the rim so the front rotor will line up correctly with that caliper?? OR will the wheel hub be made to accommodate the difference in width without changing spacers?

Going on a biking camping trip soon and want this new rim on ASAP so I can ride it out a little before taking off. Thanks in advance for input.

Your info is a little lacking. Did you buy a new rim to lace to your old hub? Or did you buy an entire wheel that has a rim that is wider than stock 3 inch? If so, the new hub should be the same width as the old hub. If new wheel, 2007 and up takes 25mm bearings.

the rim width has nothing to do with the hub width....if it's for a softail an is 3/4 axle it should be fine, if not you may have to play with the spacers to line it up. if it has sealed bearings it may be different...99 down had timken bearings an 2000 up had sealed. Take a thin tape measure an measure the width through the axle hole on both an compare.
