Default Cool my breakout down

Hi there I wondering does the 2014 breakout have a built in cooling system to keep the oil temp down or is there a air cooling system on the market that would make a big difference to bring the temp down

DK Customs makes a pretty nice oil cooler. It relocates the oil filter for easier access too. They also make a fan for softails.

Welcome to the forum from Texas.

This is what I would do, in this order:

1. Change to synthetic oil. If you want to know what others are using, go here. Please don't ask which oil is the best to use. That is the most common question asked. You can use the search function for that.
2. Stage 1 upgrade. This is a heavy breather air cleaner, open exhaust and a tuner for fuel management
3. Oil cooler
4. Fan to cool jugs

Do one at a time until you are satisfied with the results.

I agree with Doc.... up to the fans. That always looked like a bad Band-Aid fix to me

We make a product that will put a barrier between you and the heat .. That oil tank on your Softail causes a lot of issues for people as well as the rear cylinder heat ..Check us out ..

Enable the EITMS, it's in your owner's manual.

Cooling fans a bandaid for air cooled motors? Not at all. In fact they work extremely well. When we're cruising around town and multiple stoplights my friends bikes engine temps hover around 310 while I'm sitting at 230.

I agree with Doc...DK customs has an article on step my step changes to lower engine op temps...He says a tank lift helps some too giving the heat more room to escape an allowing more fresh air to circulate around the motor.

Never said they didn't work. It does look like the bike is poorly engineered though.

It depends why you're trying to lower the heat....rider comfort or lower temps for engine reliability/longevity.

A fan would be the less intrusive and easier to take off during the cooler months.

An oil cooler will only work when the bike is moving.

Crotch cooler may block some of the heat you feel but that heat needs to go somewhere. Rear cylinder? Oil tank? It just doesn't magically disappear.

EITMS doesnt do much for the cooling the engine as the front cylinder is still firing normally. Might take a few degrees off the rear pipe for rider comfortability.

There's always a compromise so knowing your reason to lower temps should help you decide. Are you doing it for the health of the engine or your comfort level.
