Don't exactly know, but heat does funny things to batteries. It's old enough, you ought to change it out anyway..

5 year old battery would be my first suspect. Cables loosening up when hot would be my second.

Batteries that are old seem to lose power when overheated. If it's the original factory battery, at 5 years old, its long overdue for replacement
