Im trying to install a set of 14" wild one chubbys on my fxstc. I was just going to run the wires on the outside instead of through the bars. I got the old bars off, put on the new bars but when i go to hookup the clamshell on the clutch side, because these bars have no dimples in them i am having a problem tightening the whole thing up. I am guessing the manufacture of these chubbys figured most people would run the wires inside the bars so they didnt put dimples in there for the wires? Has anyone ran the wires on the outside of the bars and installed wild onz? if so, how did you get around this problem?
You can dremel a little area out but I would go ahead and run the wires like they were meant to be installed. Either way you are pinching wires that shouldn't be pinched. I just went through what you are going through............also it will look a lot better not having to zip tie the wires to your new bars.

Dammit!! i wish i would have researched that better before i started. Yeah i will just have to run them internally. thanks.
Salt lick, when you get the bars on could you please post a picture. I have the same bike as you and want to do 14" wild 1 apes. Thanks.
yep...im being sent out to california for work starting tomorrow though for 7 days, when i get back to oregon i plan on finishing it...so it will be a little while but i will.
A buddy of mine made the same mistake. He order apes that were meant to be internally wired and tried to run the on the outside. After about 200 miles the bike wouldn't start, turns out it was the wires got cut from the clam shell pinching them so hard. Ended up having to do it all over, plus fixing the wiring. So do it right the first time and save yourself down the road.

Man how did he do that, the only way to get the clamshell closed would be to wrench the **** out of the screws until you cut right through the wires......its not like its kinda close to closing....it has along way to go. lol
