2009 Softain Deluxe 6 speed. I changed all three holes and had gray oil in the tyranny. How did water get in the transmission ? The filler/level plug was tight.
Had the same problem last year. Never ridden in rain. Never figured out why my oil was milky looking. I assume there's water mixed in there.
Had Mobil 80-90 in there.
Side question (may or may not be relevant):
Do you live in an area were condensation is prevalent?
If you do it is highly possible that is the culprit.
I have issues with it in my area if the bike sets to long.
That is unless you keep your bike in a heated area with not much humidity change/variation.

Only one logical answer to this: when your washing your sled water is getting into something. I don't know how or where but if you've never ridden in the rain then it's gotta be from washing your bike.

Just a thought
This,
If the bike sits and never gets up to operating temp to burn off the condensation it will happen.
I'm not buying the riding in the rain. I've ridden many hundreds of miles in the rain, some of it in hard driving rain and I've never had water in the tranny. I've never had humidity do it either. I'm thinking maybe it's when washing. Is the o-ring on the dipstick good and do you hit the engine and tranny with a hard spray from a hose nozzle?
I agree with the thoughts that it is condensation. Had it on my Dyna when I was riding 10mins to work and back. Never got hot enough to burn it all out. Take the long way home.
