Default 2018..Best Fatboy ever!!

So the new 2018s are out. I definitely have mixed feelings on a lot of the bikes that have changed but ill reserve that until I actually see them in person. But from what I can see the one bike that improved its looks in definitely the new 2018 Fatboy. Its exactly what Ive always thought the Fatboy should look like. A modern style Muscle bike straight out of an action film.. I think Harley hit it out of the part with this one. Its everything I wanted my other Fatboys that ive owned to look like.

With that being said the new modern look is definitely not working with other models. Some should have just stayed pure old school. Even though they didn't go all out like they did with the Fatboy mixing it with the old school looks of the Deluxe and Heritage doesn't work. Almost looks like the direction Victory/Indian were and has been going in with trying to mix old school looks and modern styling. It has to be one or the other if not it creates a disaster. The 2 bikes that look the best from the modern styling IMO are the Fatboy and the Fatbob. The rest not so much. Its nice to see the Fatboy on top for once in a very long time especially since bikes like the Breakout came along and stole its thunder. Well not anymore. Cant wait to see them in person.

After looking at it more closely in the 360 view... There is a lot I really like. My main hangups are the headlight, rear fender, and handlebars. The rest looks great.

Too much money out of the gate to get sorted out. Maybe if I was a newcomer with deep pockets. I can get my Lo where I want it for less dough and be happier with it than a with new one.

I've just sat on a 114 Fat Boy.

The license tag has relocated to the left side. The tank bib is now made of a non shiny metal, it's not chrome, it's the same as most of the rest of the bike. The only chrome I saw was on the signal stalks. The bike is a little lighter to lift off the kickstand but it didn't have a windshield or engine guard so I don't know if they'd make a difference.

The headlight looks odd being rectangular and when you have the bike on the kickstand you can see into the plastic backing of the nacelle. The speedo is digital, the left fake gas gauge cover is still there. The fat wheel is fat, wow, 240, god only knows how many miles you'll get out of that tire, 4000??

You can't see the kickstand when you have it down, it's hidden by the slightly narrower floorboards. There is a shock adjuster on the right side of the bike. The service department had just taken the bike out for a run, the left side of the bike is very hot and I felt burning on my left calf, more so than the right, actually the pipes felt quite cool.

Solid wheels, how wind affects the ride I don't know. Seat felt ok to sit in but I wasn't riding it. The bars taper to 1", I think they are one and a half inch.

Those were my first impressions. I saw the Breakout and the Heritage but they hadn't come off the crates yet so didn't get to sit on one.

So any plans on trading the Fat Boy S in on one?

Headlight & rear fender are an epic fail IMO. It looks like they hired the R&D crew from the defunct Victory team to come up with that. Hideous.
