Default Frankenspringer

I am thinking of taking an 07 Springer and putting a Frankenstein trike kit on it. I'm worried about the brakes, as I hear the front stopper on Springer isn't that great to begin with. Any thoughts?

Not sure but NCBANDIT on here has a nice looking 2016 Frankenstein Softail Slim S with a single disc up front. Maybe he would be able to assist you in your queries or point you in the direction of someone that can? I like the look of them myself.

I have a 2005 Springer and ride a trike as well; I would not want to depend on the front brake of a Springer to stop a trike. The dual rear brakes on a trike might help some, but I would look at upgrading the front brake

You could always upgrade the front brake to aftermarket, PM or something like that to increase their abilities. Good luck.

I'm running a Frankenstein on a Sportster with a single disk up front. Honestly, I rarely use the front brake, if at all. I have a much larger contact patch with the rear wheels and Frankenstein used a 4 piston HHI caliper on the rear.

I have no problem stopping ... I have only used the front brake in a emergency stop and to hold the trike on an incline.

I have an '03 Heritage, and just for fun recently bought an '01 Springer.....

The brakes on the '01 are definitely a weak spot compared to the Heritage....!!

Big difference between the single front discs on those bikes is the caliper.

The Heritage has 4 pistons and the Springer has only two...

I found this aftermarket vendor (there could be more) that offer a 4 piston caliper that is supposed to bolt right up to the Springer front end..

http://hawghalters.com/brake-systems.../prod_432.html

I book marked it for future reference, but I ride the Springer differently than my other bikes, so the upgrade really isn't a number one priority at this point..
